

Stress is the result of a build up of pressures. The extent of our stress depends on the number and severity of the pressures we experience and how we react.
The sources of the pressure are referred to as stressors. These can be external - from people or situations, and internal - from personal thoughts, feelings and beliefs. It is not individual stressors that sap your emotional strength but the number of them you are exposed to at any one time.
